Special Programs

    Helping Hands offers special programs to clients on an as-need basis when special circumstances within the community present a need. Such programs include:

Weather Relief Program

    As a "referral only" program, HHE provides blankets or fans during extreme weather conditions. Acceptable referral agents include: ministers, medical professionals, social workers, ect.

School Program

   As a "referral only" program, HHE provides school supplies, jackets, shoes, and clothing items to students who are identified by school, church, or social service personnel as students in need of the above referenced items to successfully complete their education. Head Start students as well as students in grades K-12 are targeted.

 

School Uniforms: School uniforms meeting local district requirements are available for qualified families. Uniforms will also be available for school personnel who see a need and make a referral through the agency.

Thrift Shop

Items are given to clients on a case by case basis.

Information and Referral Service

    A full-time staff member works with the citizens of the Greater Ennis Area to help find and obtain services available in our rural county. Clients either call in or walk in for service. The I & R Library contains directories, brochures, and other items related to I & R. The service offers bilingual service to both Czechs and Mexican Americans.
