Helping Hands of Ennis is awarded Independent Charities of America’s “Best in America” Seal
Helping Hands of Ennis recently received the highest financial accounting designation awarded to a charity in America, “Best in America” as certified by Independent Charities of America. According to Executive Director, Jo Wesley, it is a joint effort on the part of volunteers and staff that netted Helping Hands of Ennis the award. Special thanks go to Treasurer, Sylvia Bulot, for her diligence to the task and expertise in accounting. Under the direction of the treasurer and assistance from their audit firm Witherspoon, Yeldell & Wilson, P.C., staff members implement a system of internal controls.
The purpose of the ICA "Best In America" Seal of Approval is to help potential contributors easily identify your organization as one of the top charities in the country - one that meets the high standards of Independent Charities of America (ICA) and Local Independent Charities of America (LICA).
The Independent Charities Seal of Excellence is awarded to the members of Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstrate on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. These standards include those required by the US Government for inclusion in the Combined Federal Campaign, probably the most exclusive fund drive in the world. Of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and, of those, fewer than 2,000 have been awarded this Seal.
Helping Hands of Ennis is a Texas Nonprofit Corporation with a 501(c)(3) status with the Internal Revenue Service.
